Bali Volcano Eruption 2024. A tsunami alert has been issued for one of australia’s closest neighbours, where a major indonesian volcano had erupted several times in 24 hours. On sunday morning, the volcano — which is about 70 kilometres from the tourist hub of kuta — sent ash skywards as it erupted for about three minutes, spewing white clouds of smoke and ash more than 700 metres into the air, according to the country’s volcanology centre.
The agency’s spokesman, sutopo purwo nugroho, said tuesday that evacuees are spread across more than 370 locations on the island and their numbers are continuing to rise. The erupted volcano was still billowing a column of smoke up to 800 metres high on.
